On 28 March it was inaugurated the "Week of Italy in Nanjing", in the Chinese coastal province of Jiangsu. The city is one of the centers of China's economy, particularly for the presence of industrial complex in electronic products, cars, petrochemical products and for the production of iron and steel. The service sector is rapidly developing . The city has long been in the sights of foreign investors. The " Week of Italy in Nanjing " is organized by the Consulate General of Italy in Shanghai together with the Italian Embassy in Beijing, the Jiangsu Province and the city of Nanjing. The event , scheduled from March 28 to April 3 , 2014, has the participation of more than 200 companies, including Italian and Chinese ones.

Opening the event the meeting between the Italian Ambassador to the Republic of China, Alberto Bradanini , and the vice- governor of Jiangsu, Li Xueyong . The full program of events includes, among others, a business forum opened to participants, with the presentation of Italian and Chinese industrial projects on the green economy, urbanization and sustainable smart cities, and packages on health and civil aeronautics sectors. The spotlight is also on initiatives for the promotion of the "Food and Beverage" made in Italy, which culminates in the "Festival of pizza". During the days of the event there will also be a number of cultural events, including an exhibition of Italian art and architecture, an Italian film festival and the celebration of the figure of the famous missionary and explorer Jesuit Matteo Ricci, who in China has spent more than twenty years between the late sixteenth and early seventeenth century, and who is buried in Beijing. The event will also be the occasion of a presentation of Expo Milano 2015 and the three Chinese pavilions that will participate .
